Citizens over 50-years-old constitute a social group of more than six-million people.  They participate in the social-economic transformation of the country, however, to a great extent, they are unable to catch up with the speed of the occurring changes.  Furthermore, contrary to other groups threatened with social exclusion (e.g. youth or women), the elder population has been largely left to itself by society and the state. These facts account for the reason that the Academy has decided to step-in and make a difference.  The Academy voices the problems of the 50+ population and creates social awareness among society and the ruling entities.  It is imperative that social awareness and change be met, as the Activation of Senior Citizens is imperative for the Polish social, economic, and political functioning.  
We want to effectively improve the quality of  life for senior citizens in Poland.  To do this, we work to consolidate and integrate the environment and organizations which benefit senior citizens.  Furthermore, we promote good practice, analyses, and educational campaigns.

Our initiatives focus on supporting social and professional activeness of the elderly, on promoting the concept of life-long learning, and benefits resulting from intergenerational cooperation. Our actions, to a large extent, aim at eliminating age discrimination.
